Video games explicitly set in Connecticut, exclusively or in large part?
Main Post:
The only one I can think of is the horror game FAITH: The Unholy Trinity. Chapter 1 is set in Sterling, Chapter 2 is set in Gallup Cemetery in Voluntown, and Chapter 3 is set in New Haven.
There are also grand strategy games like those by Paradox that include Connecticut as part of a much larger, world-scale setting, but I'm more interested in hearing about games where Connecticut is a principal setting.
Any ideas?
Top Comment: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Video_games_set_in_Connecticut That's a good list. There aren't many, most notably Forza has multiple games with CT locations. The only one I've played is Lego Indy 2
Ct.js — Visual game editor for Pixi.js
Main Post: Ct.js — Visual game editor for Pixi.js
Top Comment: GitHub: https://github.com/ct-js/ct-js I think ct.js is a hidden gem amongst open source game tooling. Pixi is among the most mature and popular game engines available for 2D game development, but it doesn’t have an official editor. ct.js simply layers a whole suite of graphical interfaces on top of Pixi to make it accessible to a wider audience. The author is a classic “would rather spend time coding than doing PR” open source dev. I hope r/javascript can show some appreciation for their work!
Is it just me or this game is really ct sided?
Main Post:
Most of my games are just going up like 6 rounds on T side then losing on ct side. I think its because many abilities are really defensive and you can just camp hallways. Anyone else?
Top Comment:
Will likely shift as people figure shit out. CT is generally easier to start because its easier to hold angles than it is to execute when you lack map knowledge.

Insane I have to ask this in 2024: How do I watch local Celtics games in CT?

I have Xfinity currently, and don't get NBC Sports Boston. How can I watch every game (the local broadcast games)?

CT’s newest workforce pipeline is video games
Main Post:
When Rob Holub started his position as director of esports at the University of New Haven in 2023, he knew his first major challenge would be dispelling the worries of prospective students’ parents.
Namely: “My kid is never going to get a job from this.”
Four years after the program started in 2020, UNH’s first class of 10 students earning their bachelor’s degree in Esports and Gaming is months away from graduation — a group Holub expects will secure jobs in fields like video game publishing, esports talent and event management and community-based gaming organizations.
“A lot of people don’t know the careers that can come out of esports,” said Holub. “You just have to assure parents that their kids will be making money.”
The University of New Haven is one of nearly a dozen colleges and universities in Connecticut that have introduced esports degree programs in recent years, joining places like Georgia and Texas that are already an established part of the global multibillion-dollar esports industry.
A generation of children and young adults who spent formative years immersed in video games during the pandemic are now pursuing careers that tap those skills. And as the industry grows globally, colleges and universities — even middle school and high school programs — are preparing students by creating pathways into esports and gaming industries.

Reality Break - Element Games - Diablo with spaceships, where you can rewrite the universe
Main Post:
Reality Break launches tomorrow February 10th at 6am CT!
Hi, I’m Courtney, the solo developer of the ARPG Reality Break, inspired by my love for Diablo as well as all things science fiction. I started my game dev career in 2002, working on real-time strategy games like Age of Mythology, Age of Empires, Halo Wars, and Orcs Must Die. I felt a calling to go indie in 2014 and have launched a couple of games, but a few years ago decided it was time to put everything I could muster into making my dream game a reality – Reality Break, to be precise!
The idea for Reality Break came when I was facing yet another set of patch notes where my favorite D2 class, Sorceress, was nerfed. I wanted to make changes to the game that shaped it to my tastes, which is how the idea for Reality Break’s tagline came about: “Rewrite the Universe”. To fulfill that tagline, I created a Rewrite mechanic for my new game, and have made countless elements rewritable. For example, if you find a warship class weapon that won’t fit your ship, rewrite it to make it fit! If you’re finding missions too difficult or easy, rewrite them to increase the challenge (and rewards), or convert a negative crit chance modifier into a positive one. Rewrite your skills to reduce their cooldowns... or eliminate the cooldowns entirely. Rewrite a treasure crate into a Super Crate! Even the story itself can be rewritten to pursue alternate timelines.
The game comes out tomorrow, and I plan to continue updating the game based on player feedback just like I did with the demo over the past year and a half! I crave player feedback, so please let me know what you think if you check it out :).
Also! I will be doing on AMA on r/Games tomorrow, February 10th, at 2pm CT. Come hang out with me and let's chat!

TLDR: Hi I’m Courtney. My class got nerfed in Diablo so I developed my own sci-fi ARPG with a new Rewrite mechanic. It comes out tomorrow February 10th! If you try it, let me know what you think!
Top Comment: Hey! We are launch day and popular upcoming neighbours! Stopped by just to say that your game looks great and that ship is giving me all the best Solar Winds (1993) nostalgia energy. If I wasn't buried in to-do's I'd be playing your demo right now. Maybe there's some "top-down flat space" bundle opportunity in the future, though our game has less ship piloting focus. Great work on this one. Good luck on Monday!
